Fish Wake Early

This is an impressionist rendering of a young man starting at dawn to fish at beautiful Bald Head Island. The painting is acrylic on museum wrapped linen canvas. The painting is painted on sides as well so that framing isn't necessary. It is a 12 x 12 inch work that will go on sale at my Etsy sight.

I mentioned earlier that linen and acrylic seemed to be harder to work on than my usual masonite. Found that three coats of clear acrylic gesso takes care of the problem. Thanks to those on Wet Canvas for the idea!

Another Carlie at the Beach

I really enjoyed painting the small version of this, so I bought a new support and gave i another try. This is a 16 x 16 inch acrylic on linen (oatmeal colored). Linen is very different from my usual masonite. Not sure what I think yet, but do like this version. Let me know what you think!!

It was a lovely weekend in the mountains of western NC. It was about 6 degrees last week but was almost 70 this weekend. I enjoyed painting so much that I accomplished two! Hope you enjoy looking!

Different Strokes

Karin Jurick is a wonderful artist from Atlanta. She posts a photo every two weeks and invites artists to submit their interpretations on her blog. This is my submission of her photo of a Victorian house. Architecture is not really my thing, but I had fun with this after getting started.
