Diagonal Line Landscape

I am reading Edgar Payne's book entitled "Composition of Outdoor Painting."  It is always recommended by landscape workshop artists.  It is extremely helpful in finding the composition that works for your art and your vision.   In an effort to learn and improve (we all want that!), I am going to paint a landscape from each of his compositional types.  This one is the diagonal and is entitled "Downhill".  This is an 8 x 10 somewhat tonalist painting.

  1. Edgar Payne's book is one of my favorite for studying landscape. You did a beautiful job on the sky, Anne. I like the depth that you've captured, and the warm colors of the grass in the foreground.

  2. Anne Marie, this is a beautiful painting! I'm looking forward to your other compositions, too!
