Chicken Scratch - A DPW Challenge Painting (Sold)

This week, the challenge to artists was chickens.  The challenge was posted by Carol Marine.  If you haven't checked out her art, please link to her on my Artists I Admire portion of this blog.  If you would like to see how other artists interpreted the challenge, link here!  This one is a 5 x 5 inch square little painting that will fit on an easel or can be framed.

I found an amazing artist who makes handmade wooden frames and sells them in Etsy.  You can see one of his frames on a posting of my painting "Hot Stuff" at my Etsy.  The frames are just beautiful and one of a kind.  So, I am enjoying these small paintings and seeing them in the frame just is gorgeous.

To buy Chicken Scratch, just go to this link!

Painting Auction to Benefit the Japanese People

I wanted to share a link with my blogging friends.  Below is a link to over three hundred original artworks by very talented artists.  They are auctioning their artwork for the benefit of those who are suffering after the tragedy in Japan.  I will place one for auction after this weekend of painting.  This is a great opportunity to do some good and to get amazing art as the bonus.

Adoration

This painting is a 16 x 20 inch original oil painting in my usual impressionist manner.  The colors are primarily soft using Terra Verte in the background, a transparent green.  The subject is a mother and a child and the obvious loving look from the mother.  I added texture with my palette knife.

This is my favorite painting ever!  I love the way the baby and his/her face came together.  Babies are the toughest of all subjects.  To gain the youthful expression can be very challenging.

This one will be for sale and you can email me for details.

Laid Back

This original oil painting is done on linen and is a 5x7 inch portrait of a dog.  Not sure what kind this is, but he was just so relaxed with that laid back ear...had to paint him.  Met him on the way to Bald Head Island on vacation.  He just was so cute when the sun hit his flopped up ear.  If you are interested in this painting please just email me at propstanne@gmail.com.

Mud Puddle - A Painting with Texture - For Sale- Contact artist

This is an original oil painting on 9 x 12 inch linen canvas.  The painting is one that has textural strokes visible with the use of my palette knife.

The colors are Cinnabar Green, Ultramarine Blue, Yellow Ochre, Transparent Yellow, and a new one called Tuscan Red by Cennini.  The new one is a handmade paint I am trying out.  I think it may be a good choice for skin tones.

The subject is a toddler in a mud puddle.  What toddler can resist it?

Madame Tea Party - No longer available

There are likely those of you who know the famous dolls that are often collected.  I was no exception.  I bought these two collectable dolls for my daughter, Alison,  when she was very young and found these two in an old closet and decided to paint them.  They are small so the painting of their faces was a challenge.  The tea cup is an antique that I found in a store in Hendersonville, NC.

This painting is a 9 x 12 inch original oil on linen.

STYLE
The style is my usual impressionist strokes with palette knife painting.

This painting is for sale at my ETSY.

Curtain Call Original Pastel

This is a pastel painting that I have posted before so excuse the repeat but this is one of the paintings that was accepted into the Cabarrus Art Guild juried show!  I believe that the majority of the paintings are oil and acrylic but I have two pastel pieces in the show.

PASTEL ARTISTS that I admire include two that I have had the pleasure to study under.  The first one is Alicia Sotherland.  She is not only a fabulous artist and teacher but a great friend.  Please take a look at her work.  Alicia Sotherland Website

The second one is Margaret Dyer.  She does pastel figuratives and also gave me some tools for my artists toolbox during a workshop last year.  Margaret Dyers blog

Pastels are wonderful but remember if you buy one...must be framed under glass to protect it.

New Original Oil Painting for Childrens Rooms - Baby Time

I am blessed to have both friends and family expecting babies this year. With that in mind, I am painting a series of original oil paintings that will be appropriate for a nursery. This is a 12 x 16 inch oil painting on linen. Included in the painting is an antique pull toy I couldn't resist on EBAY. This painting is for sale at both my website (http://www.artannemariepropst.com) linked to the right or my Etsy store (another right link).
